Easy & Safe Basic

A basic locking fence for the feeding table – to facilitate everyday work

Handling cows, for example, while inseminating, attaching ear tags and performing assorted other treatment procedures can be accomplished by a single person.
The basic model is designed for dairy cows, but it can also be used with young cattle.
Locking and releasing is specific to each fence element.
Feeding spaces are distributed in 60cm intervals. The neck space in the locking position is 17 cm.

Basic front fences are available in the following standard dimensions.

Frame dimension alternatives:

Pellon EAS Basic 3×600 …1850
Pellon EAS Basic 5×600 …3000
Pellon EAS Basic 6×600 …3600

Material: welded structure made from hot-dip galvanized steel.

Released position
The feeding area is available to the animals. The locking pipe moves freely as an animal comes to eat or leaves the feeding area.

Locked position
The pivoting locking pipe is supported from both above and below by the pipes forming the frame of the front fence. This support also prevents the collar from passing behind the locking pipe.

Safety function
In case an animal falls or other need arises, the locking pipe can be opened from its base either individually or for the entire group.

Easy & Safe

To facilitate insemination or other treatment procedures as well as improving work efficiency and safety, the front fences / a portion of the front fence of the pens must be lockable.

Pellon lockable front fence is the most versatile on the market: the front fence features five different functional options.

  • The lockable elements and feeding openings are steplessly adjustable according to the number / size of the animals.
  • The lockable front fence is quiet: the locking pipes’ insulators are made of soft plastic and rubber.
  • Elements are attached with robust clamps tightened by two attachment bolts and a locking nut.
  • Front fence elements can additionally contain diagonal pipes which allow feeding but prevent feed from being pulled into the pen.

Released position = The feeding area is available to the animals. The engaging pipe is in the released position. The locking pipe moves freely as an animal comes to eat or leaves the feeding area.

To lock an animal / animal group into the front fence, the engaging pipe is turned into the locking position – in this case, the locking pipe will turn between the plastic stoppers of the overhead engaging pipe when an animal pushes its head through to the feeding table. The animal’s head remains locked between the pipes.

Locked position: The pivoting locking pipe is supported from both above and below by the pipes forming the frame of the front fence, hence the fence will withstand the struggles of even a larger animal. This support also prevents the collar from passing behind the locking pipe.

Half-locking: The movement of the lower part of the locking pipe is limited to the middle of the feeding opening, which prevents feed from being pulled into the pen.

Individual locking: The other animals in a group can be allowed to feed while one animal is locked in the fence.

Safety function: In case an animal falls or other need arises, the locking pipe can be opened from its base either individually or for the entire group.

Diagonal pipe front fence

A Pellon diagonal pipe front fence is a flexible front fence solution for cows of any size.

  • The width of the fence’s feeding opening is adjustable
  • A diagonal pipe front fence prevents cows from tossing their feed and allows the animals to feed in peace.
  • Compatible with a locking front fence, thus, for example, pens for young cattle can have one or more lockable feeding places and the rest of the front fence can have diagonal pipes.
  • Installed to 2” (60.3mm) frame pipes with clamps.
  • For dairy cows, the gap of the diagonal pipes is approximately 300-350mm, for calves max 250mm.

Horizontal pipe front fence

A Pellon horizontal pipe front fence is the most typical feeding fence solution for dairy- and suckler cows.

  • A horizontal pipe front fence is attached to a so-called adjustment clamp, allowing the spacing and height of the pipe to be adjusted according to the size of the animals.
  • Does not limit the number of feeding spaces.
  • Adjustment clamps for all the most common RHS and IPE/HEA pipes/beams.
